Next Generation of Environmental Law

NEXT GENERATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL LAW EVENTS

SIGN UP FOR AN EVENT

THE CONTEXT

This coming April 22 will mark the 40th Anniversary of the original Earth Day - what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement. Today's veteran attorneys were law students and young attorneys when NEPA became law that year and have spent their careers creating, interpreting, and enforcing 40 years of environmental law.

Today's law students will hit retirement age around the year 2050. Between now and then, they will be responsible for creating, interpreting, and enforcing another 40 years of environmental law, in what Thomas Friedman calls an "increasingly crowded, hot, and flat world".

THE EVENTS

Over the next month, ABA-SEER and NAELS will work together to help environmental law students set up a series of Next Generation of Environmental Law Speaker Events. The goal will be to connect the environmental attorneys of today with those of tomorrow in order to learn, network, and collaborate on the future of environmental law.

Speakers will discuss:

The Past: How they started in environmental law
The Present: What kind of environmental legal work they are doing now
The Future: Advice for those interested in a career in Environmental Law
